
Built in 1837, to serve the collieries and works in the Langley Area of the Black Country.
Starting from under the M5 Moterway, the canal climbs quickly into the open and up to the Tat Bank Branch via 6 Locks. At 511 feet this is now the highest part of the BCN.
After a grotty start, from under the M5, for an urban canal, its quiet pleasant as it continues to Titford Pool and the remains of the Portway and Causeway Green Branches.
The Engine House is now home for The Birmingham Canal Navigations Society, and there are moorings available there in the Tat Bank Branch.
