Built in 1772, by James Brindley to link the River Severn and The River Trent.
This canal starts at Stourport, a new canal town built on the River Severn.
Complete with basins and wharfs this became an inland port linking the Black Country with the sea.
The Stafford and Worcester links with Dudley via the Stourbridge Canal and Wolverhampton via the Birmingham Canal Navigations.
This is a mostly rural canal, and is very pleasant to travel along.
