
Built in the 1790's, to provide a link south to the River Avon. Kingswood Junction, the link with the Grand Union Canal marks the canals half way point. The canal starts at Kings Norton Junction on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, travels through Birminghams southern suburbs for a wile then starts to drop down towards the River Avon via several flights of locks. The canal forms part of the Avon Ring, a route, linking Stratford on Avon with Tewkesbury and Worcester. Via The Rivers Avon and Severn, The Worcester and Birmingham Canal and The Stratford on Avon Canal.
